Class Description

On your marks, get set, GO! Our Kids’ Skills Camp is now open! This year, kids can join us for our week-long Cooking Skills Camp and master new skills each day with unique and exciting menus. Kids are invited to sign up for Camp 1, Camp 2, or BOTH! (Please Note: Kids’ Skills Class: Knife Skills 101 is a requirement. If your child has already taken our past Knife Skills class, they qualify.)

Priority Registration is open until Thanksgiving Only. Starting 11/24/22, if any Kids’ Skills Classes remain, they will be available individually at full price. But that is a big, IF….don’t take your chances, register now and save!

Our Kids’ Skills Classes are designed to help kids develop a strong foundation of skills for a lifetime of success in the kitchen! Join Chef Janon for an educational and entertaining cooking class where everyone gets to learn hands-on each step of the process to safely create a variety of age-appropriate, yet challenging recipes. Kids will laugh and learn as they build their confidence and master important, lifelong skills like proper knife handling, stove top safety, measuring, weighing, and more! Participants will get to take home any leftovers as well as exclusive brag-worthy recipes to recreate and impress.

CAMP 1

Tuesday: Eggcellent Eggs – 
Isn’t this EGG-citing! In this EGG-cellent new class, we will EGGS-amine the what and the why behind this fantastic staple ingredient. Students get to flip, fry, poach, scramble, and get silly with all things eggs. They are certain to get their EGGS-ercise. And we won’t EGG-nore other recipe opportunities such as fresh, homemade Mayo and even dessert, with our Egg Custard Tarts. It’s sure to be EGG-stra special! Please EGG-scuse me if I went too far with these EGG-ceptional puns!

Wednesday: Kickin’ Chicken – Let’s flock together to learn about every kid’s ”go-to” protein: CHICKEN. Each menu item will be im-peck-able. We’ll even cover (at length) food safety and the dangers of mishandling raw chicken. Don’t worry parents . . . it’s going to be seriously SO MUCH fun while also educational.

Thursday: Super Side Dishes – Super Sides – to the rescue! Your kids will bravely conquer Dauphine Potatoes from scratch. Watch out! Hot potato – three ways – beyond the fries and mash! Kids will learn to make both the refined Hasselback Potatoes and the super-fun Smashed Potatoes! Then we dial up the flavor with Caribbean Pineapple Rice, and French Rice Pilaf. What kid wouldn’t want to take this exciting class where they’ll whip, whisk, and stir their way into super-hero status! Things are bound to get a little cheesy, but fun, for sure.

Friday: Dreamy Desserts – It’s no surprise that kid’s like dessert. What’s not to like?! But what if they could make these creative confections for themselves…..using REAL ingredients while learning tons of tricks and techniques along the way……that they can apply to all areas of cooking? That’s what we’re here for! Not just to load them up with sugar and send them back your way. There will be conversations on chemistry as we whip up our very own Marshmallow Fluff to nestle inside our chocolate-y Whoopie Pies. We will discuss “seasonality” as we design the perfect Berry Crisp and we’ll even review safety standards when deep frying those golden, delicious Beignets!

Saturday: A Better Breakfast – Hey Parents!!! Want to spend your weekends sleeping in and waking up to a delectable breakfast already made and waiting for you? I do! That’s why my son is the *official* breakfast cook in MY house. In this EGG-straordinary class, kids get to make inventive favorites like Bacon Bowls and Breakfast Pizza while also learning lifelong techniques that will have them making you breakfast for dinner too!!!

 

No chaperones/spectators permitted in class.

*Kids’ Skills Classes are designed for kids ages 8 to 12, but are open to teens ages 13 to 16. Older or more experienced kids will receive more challenging recipes to master new advanced skills!
